About The Event
AMR's SECOND YEAR-ROUND CAREGIVER RESPITE INN: Three nights of peace, sleep and friendship with other special needs moms, adoptive moms, and adult female caregivers who already understand your challenges! Leave your worries, stress, and responsibilities at the front door!
Inside, find essential rest and therapeutic fellowship with other caregivers who truly "get it".
This inn hosts: eligible caregiving Women/Moms, Men/Dads, and Couples. We also host numerous private group retreats.
First opened in December 2020, Lawton Place Manor is a fully restored 1879 Georgian Revival home. Conveniently located in the Mountains of NE Georgia, it is perfectly situated as a short escape from places like Atlanta, Charlotte, Greenville, Columbia, and Chattanooga...even Birmingham and Knoxville. This area provides amazing opportunities for hiking, wineries, antiques, pottery, fishing, restaurants, shopping, history, mountain drives, river tubing, and tourist attractions like Helen, GA! Plus from May to October, you can enjoy our on-site pool!

Kathryn's Promise-K-Gr Fl
3 nights lodging. Manor House. Ground floor. Facing the East lawn, with sunrise in the morning, it has a beautiful, hand-painted King size bed with a quilt in taupe and aqua. Private ensuite full bath with newly re-tiled, over-sized shower for two. Stunning original fireplace (decorative only) with mirrored quarter-sawn oak mantel. Named to honor our largest benefactor, this is our only ground floor room. Although the bedroom is large in size, the bathroom is not ADA accessible.

Lawton's Legacy-K-2nd Fl
3 nights lodging. Manor House. 2nd Floor. With east facing views over the front lawn, this room is painted in gray and boasts a high-back King bed with a quilt in red, white and blue. HUGE master bath suite with large tiled shower/tub. Named to honor the original owner, US Ambassador Alexander Lawton, this room is the master suite. Overstuffed chair with ottoman is perfect for reading. Desk and mirror.

Sarah's Sanctuary-K-2nd Fl
3 nights lodging. 2nd Floor. Stunning white wainscot paneling and a private balcony overlooking the pool. King cherry poster bed with a quilt in pale peach and mixed tones of aqua in the room. Private-to-you bath is located just a few steps down the hall (not ensuite). Includes a desk. Named for Ambassador Lawton's wife, Sarah Gilbert Alexander Lawton, she was the epitome of "the lady of the house". In high Victorian style, she graced these halls and greeted distinguished guests.

Cobb's Corner-Q-2nd Fl
3 nights lodging. 2nd floor room has North facing windows overlooking the pool. Deep ocean blue walls & 14 ft ceilings. Stunning Queen sized oak poster bed. Two comfortable sitting chairs and a table adorn this room. Plantation desk. Original fireplace mantel (decorative only) painted white. Full bath with tub/shower combo. Named to remember famous baseball player Ty Cobb, who rented a room here in the 1950s!

Corinne's Comfort-K-2nd Fl
3 nights lodging. King white wicker bed with stunning, bright blue floral quilt and peach walls. This room overlooks the South gardens. Full private bath with tub/shower combo. This room is named after the Ambassador's beloved eldest daughter, Corinne, who died at the age of 29 from yellow fever (not in this house!) lol

Cottage Rm-Q-Nora's Nest
3 nights lodging in our 2-bedroom 1937 cottage. Just a few steps away from the Manor House. Woven wicker queen sized bed. Shared living area, kitchenette, and a full bath with original claw foot tub and hand-held shower. This is a comfy space to share with another mom you already know, but it's great for making new friends too. No TV in the cottage, but WiFi is avail. This room is named after the Ambassador's middle daughter, Nora Lawton Cunningham.

Cottage Rm-Q-Louisa's Journey
3 nights lodging in our 2-bedroom 1937 cottage. Just a few steps away from the Manor House. Seagrass queen sized bed. Shared living area, kitchenette, and a full bath with original claw foot tub and hand-held shower. This is a comfy space to share with another mom you already know, but it's great for making new friends too. No TV in the cottage, but WiFi is avail. This room is named after the Ambassador's youngest daughter, Louisa Lawton Mackall.
